    Computer freeze on startup


    Hello,

    So I decided to help my brother-in-law with his computer problems and I can't seem to find a fix. He installed Windows 10 creator's update a few months ago and has been experiencing problems with freezes upon starting the computer, that have made it impossible to start the computer except in safe mode.

    I'm no expert but, assuming that the creator's update was the problem, I decided to try to reset the computer to the original windows 10, but found that the freeze (which occurs on the load screen displaying the computer manufacturer logo) happens when restarts after the reset as well.

    After that I decided a clean install was probably a better bet, so I downloaded windows 10 on a USB drive and proceeded to reinstall the operating system from the flash drive. Everything went smoothly until the computer restarted after the installation; it once again froze on startup.

    I'm clearly in somewhat over my head and I'm starting to suspect this might be a hardware issue, since it's clearly impossible to boot the computer even when the creator's update is not installed. I would be very grateful for any help. Thoughts/advice?

    The computer is a Toshiba, approximately 2 years old, running Windows 10 64x.

    Unfortunately I'm not sure it helps since I can't start the computer at the moment (I can however acces the Recovery environment), however I have made some progress with regards to figuring out the problem.

    So, new question: I once again tried performing a clean install and the computer once again crashed, but this time with a BSoD saying CLOCK_WATCHDOG_ERROR. Googled it and it from what I can gather it is either a harware issue or a BIOS issue. Is there a good way to update the BIOS from the Recovery environment (since I'm unable to boot Windows 10 after installation)? Can you suggest another way I might try to solve this problem?
