Installing programs extremely slow on fall creators update!

After fall creators bug am doing clean install of win 10 pro on all pc's in the house, as wasn't able to recover/save/get out of endles BSOD/GSOD loop. Still working on dual xeon workstation here, using standard windows creation usb in uefi mode. Clean install on ssd (samsung evo 500gb) and yet installs of software are taking FOREVER! Or hanging, if they complete at all!

Just now trying to install x-rite I1 pro profiler which is hanging on completion, brother printer drivers, also hanging, Marvell MSU v4 for ssd caching, also hanging...

This is not! Insider preview, just the normal usb creation thing from M$ (was living dangerously before crash with insider preview of windows 10 workstation, as have 72 threads, was hoping the'd fixed that 64 thread limitation...and because I'm an idiot of course).

On clean install Edge is also ridiculously slow/buggy, and won't let me install Chrome (had to install from usb copied from 10 year old laptop!)..etc etc.

Anyone else with similar install problems of previously known good software with fall creators? On 16299.15, and no haven't touched system restore yet...haven't gotten that far...working on 2nd reinstall of windows since this morning...

    Happy days!

i am having the same problems. maddening! windows 7 works just fine on this same pc. windows 10 fall creators update is a nightmare to install from usb. hangs and takes several tries. once installed i am unable to install chrome or firefox. edge and ie11 are buggy as hell and ie is unable to download anything without retrying multiple times. ive been searching for a solution for several days and finding nothing. this is the first thread ive found with someone having similar issues. if you find the cause of this PLEASE repost here and ill do the same.

also, since this fall creators update all ssd's using windows 10 have dropped by nearly half in their rated speed. my samsung 850 pro which was a consistent 560/520 is suddenly 350/222 on this new fall creat. update mess. prior versions and on this windows 7, its normal. windows 7 is the only os i can get to work on this pc without problems. win 8.1 is the same as 10. just no longer functional.

I suggest updating all your drivers first to ensure compatibility with the Fall Creators Update.

Secondly, regarding backups, Macrium Reflect Free v7 is the best IMO

    Download = http://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v7/ReflectDLHF.exe

Usage guide (be sure to watch this before proceeding)=

According to the manual for that board, it only supports 32GB RDIMM, not 64GB. It does support 64GB LRDIMM.

    DIMM Size Per DIMM- RDIMM: 32GB, 16GB, 8GB, 4GB
    - LRDIMM: 64GB, 32GB
Might try cutting back to 32GB just to see what happens.

Referring to me or other posters? Have 4x16gb rdimm, which have worked and still working fine (knock on pcb!). Will have to check out macrium..the windows backup seems dead in the water (non issue, on 3rd reinstall hopes this one's stable!)..good grief! And yes all latest drivers etc. But not exactly a simple setup with 2 hba's going, sas expander, 2x cpu etc etc and upwards of 20+ hdd etc all in various raid etc configurations!
Actually able to boot at the moment, using the simplest method in the book..system restore to earliest known good config! AFTER 3rd reinstall of course (with all drivers etc, adobe cc etc etc...only 1/3rd way through installing the programs that were on there! Autodesk, various 3d stuff etc etc..millions of plugins....absolute nightmare!
    Hope M$oft stock prices tank!!

I was responding to you ssuiidman. Your Specs have this in it:

Memory: 64gb ecc rdimm value ram

The manual for you system says only 32GB of RDIMM ram is supported. 64GB of LRDIMM is supported.

Even though it's been working, I would suggest removing 1/2 the ram then try the install again, see what happens. If it works, then put the ram back after the install completes.
