I'm very curious about that - what's "classic shell start menu (free)"? Do I have it or do I get it?

Does it help me in one thing? Namely the fact that in Windows 7, I used to be able to set a certain folder view and set that to be the same for all subfolders under it (not all folders everywhere but only that particular folder and its subs). It's scandalous that that is no longer possible in Windows 10 explorer

Hi, whilst it can add a few things in file explorer, it in no way is intended to do anything like that.

You may have seen this on this topic, which has been discussed a few times here:
apply list view to only all subfolders - Windows 10 Forums
Applying custom Folder View settings to subfolders - Windows 10 Forums
