    Hi @MPSAN

What is the age of your power supply? According to the Techpowerup review it has been available on the market already for five years.

Can you please check what is the room temperature where your PC is standing when the reboots occur? The reason I ask is because my PC also had an automatic reboot issue when I did a shutdown. In the end it turned-out to be the PSU that was causing the reboots when the room temperature was above 24 degrees Celsius.

The supply is almost 3 years old and the room temp is always about 72 F. I can call Seasonic to see what they say. I sent them an email but never heard an answer.

I know that my BIOS is at a lower level but ASUS says that you should not just update it for no reason. Could this be my issue? It always worked before but could Windows add something this BIOS does not like?

Anyway, before I do ANYTHING else, I think I will finally do a clean boot to see if at least it will let me shut down then! I am not sure the shutdown/reboot issue has anything to do with the reboots while running. I find it strange that I can tell it to shutdown and it does with the fans stopped. Then about 10 seconds later it reboots. No I do not WOL set of fast startup, and it seems that Windows did shut down!

It could either be that the BIOS is causing this or that the power supply is defective. The last three BIOS updates on the ASUS BIOS download page clearly shows that it "Improves system stability" and possibly for issues like what you are experiencing now.

Is it possible for you source another power supply that has equal or greater wattage and is in a known working condition to help rule out that your power supply is defective?

It would be hard and Seasonic will let me RMA it as it has a 5 year warranty. However I still do not know why a PS would cause an issue when I tell the system to shut down and the thing powers down and the fans stop and then 10 seconds or so later it powers up again.

I can update my bios...but want to try other things first...including a clean boot. I also have a good supply of backup images from Macrium and I can see if that helps. I suspect that I should first see why shutdown does not work as I assume that once the fans stop Windows has nothing to do with it.

Well, it seems like I can Shutdown OK if I do it up to about a half hour after first powering on! Today I disconnected my LAN and it did not matter, and I do not see how BIOS could cause this as it would not take a half hour. I could restore an old image with the LAN not connected so it does not go out and tell me that I am downlevel and see if that fixes the issue. If it does, I can try the clean boot.

Restoring images did not help. I may try to swap PS units, but I thought the MoBo controlled if a system starts up.

zbook...I am about to try the Clean Boot suggestion and will update this (lots of Holiday stuff going on). Will a clean boot still install flash and java? I just wonder if I can use the system in clean boot, but I guess I will find out..
