    My windows 10 desktop changed

I have been using Windows 10 for over a year. But suddenly, my desktop is all different. Now I have "Life at a glance" and "Play and explore" with icons all over the desktop. I want my old desktop back where I had a taskbar with all the icons I use on a daily basis. How can I get this back?

Sounds like you are looking at the Start Menu, not the Desktop. Click the Windows icon lower left and you will go back to Desktop. Those titles you quoted are the default group titles for the Start Menu.

You may also have gotten yourself into Tablet Mode. In the Action Center (lower right corner of taskbar), check to see if Tablet Mode is on. Turn off if it is.

If I understand you correctly, you have described Tablet Mode.
Please follow the 2 steps described in the screenshot. That should bring you back to your normal desktop mode.

Hello bh0526, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

In addition, you may have Start full screen turned on. If so, turning it off should help.

Has to be Tablet Mode or Full Screen Start, they look almost identical.

I find these Quick Action Centre icons extremely "dangerous", the number of times I've been asked similar issues to the OP only to find the accidental (or curiosity!) click has caused problems.

    To remove them ...
Settings > System > Notifications & actions > Edit your quick actions
A pin will appear in the top RH corner of each icon. Click the pin to remove each icon from the Notifications window. This won't remove the ability to perform the action, just remove the possibility (or temptation) to click.
