    Hi,
The only half way interesting app might be xbox and I'm no where near willing to use an MS account to use it
    Steam/ UPlay/ Origin fits the ticket :)

Mike I think it's related to how long you've been using computers and the OS you started with.

I started with pre DOS systems without multitasking, even when I had multitasking I was in a situation where confidentiality was a major concern so every application was closed to clear buffers, and if needed again was started fresh.

I can see the benifits for this system on a developement environment where frequent reboots are the norm but not for normal day to day usage so I can't see me using it regularly.

I still think this is the reason why my mom’s Desktop PC beeps at startup. It thinks it’s being restarted by the apps not closing from before. Or it could be because Microsoft has added Shutting Down and added Please Wait screens upon shutting down and powering up. It’s very annoying to hear the computer beep when it never did that before this update was installed.

Cortana, for all her modern ways, is just an 'ol fashioned gal at heart.

Me: "Hey Cortana, shut down my PC"

Cortana: "I can help with this....."

...and she does it the old fashioned way - no app would dare restart once she'd told them to go away!

May not be it, but if your Windows Startup sound is set to "beep", and you have Play Windows Startup Sound enabled, that's what you'll get. Try just unchecking the box.

Right click volume icon in taskbar, click sounds:

@f14tomcat, I am pretty sure that is turned off and it doesn’t sound like a Windows Startup sound to me. It sounds like it has something to do with the BIOS to me.

It was a shot in the dark. Hope it's not an error beep. Sometimes they beep when they don't know what else to do.
