UnZipping Zip file with internal files with same name

Hello - I am needing help in unzipping a zip file with multiple instances of same file name.

For example, the file name xxx48197 exists 66 times in this particular zip file. When I attempt to extract, I get the warning message "The Destination as 66 files with same names" with options of Replace, skip, or Decide.

How can I extract these files - with a result of xxx 48197 copy (1), xxx48197 copy(2) etc - like Windows does when copying a file that already exists?

    thanks!

    Decide..
And then check both Source and Destination Check Box at top of decide dialog

Or use 7zip and select Auto-Rename

    Welcome to TenForums!

Question: What program are you using to unzip the files? There should be an option to extract the folder structure along with the files. Since you cannot have 2 files in the same folder with exactly the same name, I would think that the multiple instances of the file with the same name would more than likely be in different folders. If you expand the folder structure and not just the files into one folder, I would hope that this would resolve the issue.

Correct answer. Dellis81, once you have done it this simple way, you can examine the output folder and decide what stays and goes.

You can open the zip and drag the files into a folder or just open the files inside the zip and not extract the zip.

Thank you all for your suggestions - I tried all the ideas, but hte one that worked was Kyhi's installing 7-zip and finding the auto name feature. Appreciate everyone's help and will be back to this forum. I wasted to much time yesterday, when all I needed to do was ask :) Thank you!

Glad that worked for you. Really is the simplest way. And come back anytime.
