Can not play .mp4 or .m4v files since Update to 1709

Tried Update from existing 1703 and all is working. But after clean install no player works with .mp4 files, even I installed the same codec package. Anybody the same problem or knows a solution?

No. I am using 1709 without any problems. Do some scans of your system. sfc /scannow

Have you tried running Windows Update - you may need some updates (drivers) which Microsoft will provide for
your PC? After that, try to right-click on a media file and select "Open with" then open with Windows Media Player.

no those two files should play right out of the gate on any version of 10. i agree with doing the sfc.

I would blame the codec pack, since both file types should play without any extra additions. If not, skip the codecs and get VLC.

thx for the replies. For now I restored my updated Win10 Fall Creators Update and will wait for the new Isos to download, before I try a clean install again. If I run into the same problem again I will try sfc scannow.
    Thx again.

Like everyone said, those file should play without issue. With that you might check the files themselves, or look elsewhere because there's definitely support for mp4's right out the box in Windows 10.

    Problem solved.
It was a corrupted 387.92-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql graphic card driver.
I installed an older version and everything was working fine. Then I installed a fresh downloaded
    387.92-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.
    Everything ok.
