    Fyi: I see on this install how the index is supposed to behave. Once you redirect the user folders, they appear independently in the Index, not under Users.
    Good.. that's consistent with what I said about my relocated Desktop.

    To help you avoid doing too many reinstalls...
    1. An in-place repair install (Windows setup of same base version from normal boot) keeps all programs and data and most settings and may fix many (but not all) problems.

    2. Start using disk imaging routinely. E.g. Macrium Reflect (free). Disk images let you restore Windows (whole set of partitions), and any disk or partition to a previously valid state, and even to a new disk if your disk fails.
