    Sorry for the late reply.

The build is the latest public build so Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.632)

I put a another HDD in my pc with windows 10 on it and scanned the broken windows disk when the OS was not running. I did this because 1. I got different results when I scanned it separately then when I scanned it on the OS and 2. I had the sfc command running for 1 day straight and it still didn't finish. Even when I got back from school which was later in the day it still didn't finish. The one thing I did notice was that the sfc command finished with an error. I looked the error up but the only thing I got was different results. After this I downloaded seagate tools and crystal disk info. For seagate tools the S.M.A.R.T test passed but the long generic test and the short drive self test failed. Crystal disk info showed that the current pending sector count was low. I ran sfc /scannow in safe mode and there were no errors and it finished fine.

How low is 'low'? And has it started to increase? Any current pending sectors could a sign of things starting to fail on the disk. Looks like it may be time to replace it.

There are 4 sectors that are bad thats what the crystal disk showed.

    See..
    https://kb.acronis.com/content/9133

    ...and:
    1. SMART ID 5 (0x05): Relocated Sectors Count
    2. SMART ID 187 (0xBB): Reported Uncorrectable Errors
    3. SMART ID 188 (0xBC): Command Timeout
    4. SMART ID 197 (0xC5): Current Pending Sector Count
    5. SMART ID 198 (0xC6): Uncorrectable Sector Count
    6. In general, if a drive shows a count of zero (0) for all of these attributes, it means the drive is almost certainly healthy. Conversely, if any of these attributes has a value of 1 or more, there’s a significant chance that the drive will die soon...

I don't get this but for some reason some of the disk checkers that i have say my disk is fine and some say there is a minor issues.

Try running a surface scan. => a picture of your disk.
    E.g. use Macrorit Disk scanner
    or
Hard disk Sentinel (trial) - that usually gives a very clear statement about the health of your disk and Disk, Surface Test runs a surface scan.

Hopefully the surface scan may convince you to invest in a new disk and try to retrieve as much as you can.

If it were me, i wouldn't waste time trying to save a falling drive.... Replace the drive, start with a clean install of Windows and be happy. Use this as an excuse to upgrade to an SSD!

That's the point I was trying to make. This drive is probably going to fail in the near future, best to do something about it now while it is still readable.

As I understand it, 'pending sectors' are still readable, but may need several retries to read the data. If the Uncorrectable Sector Count is still zero there may be time to make a system image and restore that to a replacement drive (or SSD).

I kept posting on this thread because I was getting different results from different disk checking programs. Each one says something different about the disk. Thats why I keep posting on this threat but perhaps I should get a new hard drive even if this one still somewhat works.

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has helped me!

Some test look deeper than others, that's all. Backblaze (a cloud storage provider) know a thing or two about predicting drive failure.

Backblaze's analysis of nearly 40,000 drives showed five SMART metrics that correlate strongly with impending disk drive failure...
    https://www.computerworld.com/articl...e-failure.html

...and one of those is Pending Sector Count.

....perhaps I should get a new hard drive...
That would seem a sensible approach, particularly while you can still back up all your data. Good luck.
