Nope!! Thats not it. After creating a shortcut, when I use keyboard shortcut (Win + E) windows explorer opens up to 'This PC'.

Your first post said absolutely nothing about a keyboard shortcut. Just follow the directions, they work well.

Yep, Win+E will not open this shortcut. It'll only open the default File Explorer.

You can pin to taskbar this shortcut to make it easier to open, or assign your own keyboard shortcut for it.

I did that and it works. But the problem now is that the desktop folder's subfolders now opens in 'details' view not 'list' view. I used the tweak I found in this forum somewhere to open all folders in 'list' view by default. But it doesnt work for subfolders in this case. How do I fix it for all the desktop's subfolders in this case?

    Hello yahanna,

Did you do both steps in the tutorial you linked to?

It's important to first set a default folder template for all folders, set the view how you want, and then "Apply to Folders" to apply that view to all folders using the same template.

Don't know if it will fill the bill but I right-click the Folder icon on the Taskbar and have several choices, some Pinned and some Recent, to make things happen. I even can hover over that icon and see if I have more than one instance of File Explorer open at the same time [usually do]. The blue underline/bar on icons on the Taskbar indicate something open, just like the dot under the icons on the Dock bar on macOS or older Mac OS X.
