    System Error Log Kernel-Power EventID 137 SleepState 4

    Hi,

    Every time I manually put my PC into sleep mode by using StartKey > Power > Sleep, another instance of this error is recorded in System Error log:
    Code:
    Log Name:      System
    Source:        Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
    Date:          9/6/2017 9:26:33 AM
    Event ID:      137
    Task Category: None
    Level:         Error
    Keywords:      (4)
    User:          N/A
    Computer:      AO40
    Description:
    The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S4). This can result in reduced resume performance.
    Event Xml:

      </System>
      <EventData>
        <Data Name="SleepState">4</Data>
      </EventData>
    </Event>
    This entry in the log is the only evidence of error I can discern. I haven't noticed any performance degradation nor do I see any pop-up errors.

    I'd be happy to just ignore these entries in the log unless there's an easy fix.

    Thank you for your advice,

    Dee

    Hi there. This is not a big thing, but may be caused by the non-compatible driver. Which CPU do you have? Motherboard?

    You're welcome.

    Yours is similar to mine.

    The CPU driver.

    Hi HG,

    Using Speccy, I don't see anything listed as a driver on the CPU tab.

    In Device Manager > Computer > ACPI x64 based PC, I check for updates and the response is that this driver is up-to-date.

    None of the entries in Device Manager is flagged.

    Do you have other troubleshooting ideas?

    Thank you,

    Dee

    @Dee1955

    Sorry for the delay. I was out of town for the weekend.

    We have the same CPU, but a little different board. To compare, I have generic Microsoft driver version 10.0.15063.0 for my CPU cores.

    I tested your method for placing mine to sleep. I get a different kind of error relating to the DNS server.

    The only thing I can think of is to check the Asus site including their forums to see if others have your problem. Just for grins you may want to run these two:

    Run SFC Command in Windows 10 Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

    If sfc /scannow command is unable to repair corrupted or modified system files because the component store (source) is corrupted. SFC should be able to repair the files afterwards.
