    My free upgrade hasn't started on any of my PC's yet. ISO's and Keys are up on MSDN now though. My keys are listed as Retail keys. You will need keys for some installations, that's for sure. I'm still waiting to see how the free upgrade handles that part though.
    Which keys are you comparing it to. I have retail windows 7 pro key and windows 10 build 240 has its own key. I upgraded from windows 7 to build 240. Showkey shows both build key and retail key. I am at work I want to install Windows 10 fresh. Just wondering which key i need to use one MS site or my windows 7 pro key

    Just installed the update on this laptop and all went well.

    Only, the strangest thing is, when I checked my Product Key, it's the same one that I have on my Technical Preview laptop? Could it be that the product key is linked to your Microsoft account now and that this one will be used for all your systems?

    Anyone else noticed this?

    I don't know yet. All I'm saying is, Microsoft have put Windows 10 ISO's up on MSDN for subscribers to download. I also get keys with my subscription to use with the ISO's. 5 Home, 5 Pro and 1 Enterprise. The Home and pro keys are listed as Retail keys. I have not used any of them yet of done an install with an MSDN ISO. I'm waiting for my free upgrades to happen to see what happens with those.

    On my 8.1, everything is downloaded, I even made ISO from the ESD, but since then it's just sitting there saying all is well and compatible but no offer to upgrade yet. ISO came out identical as the one I made from insider edition. No idea what it's waiting for. I even updated 8.1 with all the updates I have hidden before. So fully updated, malware free etc. Tried spamming notification and update, not budging. WU history reports 5 failed upgrade attempts.

    Already made bootable USB with it, I guess I could force upgrade from there but afraid it might screw up my activation.

    For all who see a failed "Windows 10 Upgrade" in Windows Update;

    1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder.
    2. Now, run the command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow".
    3. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 will start downloading (5,398.0MB total for me on 8.1 Pro)

    This is working as of 7AM in Eastern time zone.
