Congrads COMPUTIAC! Well deserved.
Congrads COMPUTIAC! Well deserved.
I've given up on the GWX App. I went here instead and just selected upgrade this Pc now. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10. I did my two laptops and main desktop. I didn't time it but it took an hour or so for each PC. I did them all at the same time and just went from PC to PC to click prompts when needed. Setup failed on my laptop but went fine the second time around. They all show activated and no key was asked for. YMMV
I installed Office 2013 on my Windows 10 Home. Activated and fully updated. I've observed two strange things:
1) When I open the Start Menu and I type "word" or "Word", so that Word 2013 will appear, the first thing it shows me is "Wordpad" and then nothing else. If I press "search my stuff" a whole bunch of other files appear, besides Word 2013. Additionally, if I select a letter from "Start Menu/ All apps", the letter "E" for example, is grayed out even though I do have Excel 2013 installed.
2) Today I received approx. 4 GB of updates for Office 2013. This is normal. I have observed that if you select the "Details" while the updates are downloading and installing, this "Details" menu is not so live. It was showing more than 20 updates with the status "waiting for install" or "downloading", and when I returned to the main Update window it was at 99% and after a few seconds it finished. It appeared like the details area was stuck or something.
On another context, I've clean-installed the latest official NVIDIA driver and now I have the Control Panel, and it works great :)
Success at last, W10 installed over W7 (non-Insider machine) and running good after using the the MS 'Media Creation Tool'. I did not want to end up waiting weeks for it! Activation took a number of tries but went through eventually with no key to input. Does anyone know if you can delete those 2 hidden folders $Windows~WS and $Windows~BT? The ~WS one still has 5.78 GB in it and the ~BT one now has 1 GB in it. Will not touch them for the time being! Maybe Disk Cleanup could eventually be used to delete them?
Thank you Joanne, I will just leave those folders in place. Will also hang on to that Windows.old folder too for a while!
:)
I did it just for fun on my PC running build 10240. It was an upgrade install from Windows 7. It actually did the whole upgrade. I had stopped insider builds and opted out before that too. It shows activated. That tells me 10240 was not RTM or it would not have upgraded? I just wanted to see what would happen. I was expecting it to say your already Running Windows 10 or something similar and not go any further.
Go here, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10 run the applicable download tool. Then select Upgrade this PC now and follow the prompts. I did it on all four of my PC's today. Got tiered of waiting on the get Windows 10 App to actually do something.
