    24 hours, and I still don't have a $Windows.~BT folder in C: (and yes, I disabled hiding protected OS files in Folder Options). Will just have to find an ISO somewhere.

    Is it normal that my $windows.-BT folder is still 140Mb? I've checked the SoftwareDistribution\Download directories and there's approximately 2.6GB of data in there, but there's been little or no movement on anything for several hours. Just hoping it isn't stuck somehow!

    So the upgrade/installation files downloaded yesterday.
    I rebooted into XP for the rest of the day and overnight and re-booted into Win7 this morning about 2 hours ago.
    So far nothing has happened, so I will wait until I see a notification that the upgrade is ready. I'm not going to risk breaking anything just to force the issue.
    Windows Update does not have an indication that the upgrade is ready to be installed nor does the Get Windows 10 App.

    For all who see a failed "Windows 10 Upgrade" in Windows Update;

    1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder.
    2. Now, run the command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow".
    3. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 will start downloading (5,398.0MB total for me on 8.1 Pro)

    This is working as of 7AM in Eastern time zone.
    As of this morning my $Windows.~BT folder had 5.93Gb in it. I've tried to use Windows Update but have had 2 fails for Win10 Home. Did 1-3 on the above list. "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" was empty. Now the $Windows.~BT folder has dropped from 5.93Gb to 140Mb & stuck & C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download has 30.8Mb of data! Huh?

    Additionally, the Windows 10 tray icon has been missing as of this morning's boot.

    My update status changed to this..

    Amy ideas what happened? Why would it need to validate if my "specific PC" is ready? Any ideas?
    It means you should press the OK, notify . . . button. The next step is the upgrade. I hope, since I just pressed that button!

    I now have the clean install, which has resolved my issues with Action Center, but I've come up with new issues now.

    I did that and hours latter I get an almost ready on one PC, it's been on that screen for a while now. My other PC is still on validating. Not all that impressed with how long this is taking to be honest.

W10 Insider Prev upgrade to Win10 full vs of W7/8 upgrade to W10
Read somewhere that the latest Win 10 Insider Prev will be upgrades to Win 10 full when it is released. A good idea to install this sooner rather than upgrading Win 7 / 8.1 to 10?
