    usual precautions?

Not sure of usual precautions. That's why I asked about selective startup, wanted to be sure nothing was rotten in Demark (I mean besides cheese) before I install or download anything, just paranoid I guess. Before I jump off this new cliff. You know its not the fall that kills you its the sudden stop at the end.
    Thanks

You should make a complete image backup of your C-Drive 1st, then if you choose to upgrade to Windows Creative you can restore your previous version, painlessly :) Lots of us here only use Macrium Reflect. Free program and one of the best.

If your talking about Macrium Reflect, why would you even want to uninstall it ?? How would you restore any backup made by Macrium if you uninstall it?? Sorry, but your question don't make sense to me, unless you do not want to use Macrium to make your backups. It is MUCH better than Windows Backup...
