I am referring to Asus ZenBook Flip S (UX370)

    and

    Asus ZenBook Pro (UX550)

    Take a closer look HERE

Really nice looking notebook. Love that color. And the specs are impressive as well.

What I don't like is the lack of ports. I found out very early when I bought my Asus in 2013 that that I needed at times more than 2 USB ports. Especially when away from the house. What I love about the Lenovo is it has 3 USB 3.0 ports and 2 Thunderbolt ports. I guess that's part of the business class this notebook was designed for.

Anyway, those are some nice looking Asus machines with impressive specs top end specs.

The Pro has 2 Thunderbolt Ports and 2 USB3.1 ports...that is more than I will ever need

The Flip has only 2 USB3.1 ports but comes bundled with a USB-C dock that gives you SD card reader, LAN, VGA, HDMI, standard USB 3.0 and a USB-C port for charging.

I like both of them...both for very different usage scenarios. But both support the Asus Pen, which is still quite pathetic compared to the Surface Pen.

I just like having more ports for more options in a portable. That said, those should be enough for a portable laptop. And I like the idea of getting a docking station with the flip. BTW I do miss having a full sized SD card reader like that on my Asus. On the Lenovo you just get mini SD card reader.

That said, the only time I'd need a card reader is to transfer files from y camera. And since my camera does USB 3.0 transfer speed for both SD an CF cards, I can simply hook a USB cable and whalla... files transferred.

At any rate I really like that Asus Zenbook Flip and had I not bought my Lenovo, I might have given serious consideration to the Flip had it been out at the time. Of course I would have maxed out the specs, just as I did the Lenovo.

Anyway, we're getting way off topic here since I'm sure the OP still has questions about their issue.

    Peace

For future reference I'd like to do another windows assessment tool check of the standard drive but when I enter the code Winsat formal -restart cleanWinsat formal text.... etc., I can't find the Windows PowerShell (admin) link as there's nothing there so I must have got something wrong somewhere....?

    Thanks

    1. Press WINDOWS-Key on your keyboard
    2. Type PowerShell
    3. Right Click the PowerShell Icon with your Mouse
    4. Click on Run as Administrator
    5. Say yes when UAC prompts for permissions
    6. in "Administrator: Power Shell" - window type Winsat formal -restart clean
    7. Press Enter
    8. Wait for Winsat to complete.

Not trying to be mean or anything but this is a clear example of not following your thread as that info was posted earlier…. Updating laptop.... Solved - Page 5 - Windows 10 Forums.

Anyway slicendice reposted it for you.

I agree with @sygnus21 on 4GB being the minimum. I would always go with 8GB. If you game or want to run VM's, start at 16.

Your Core i3 is probably ok for you, since it was running fast enough when you first got the computer. It was the slowdown over time that got annoying. It's almost certainly your hard drive. Going with an SSD will make it better, for sure. Formatting and reinstalling will make it better for a while. Then, it will just get slow again.
