    Explorer.exe memory could not be written


    I've had this problem for 2 months now, I get this error:
    explorer.exe - Application Error
    The instruction at 0x0000... referenced memory at 0x0000.... The memory could not be written.

    I've read about this error and everyone seems to have it linked with shutting down their computer but not for me. I get it randomly, sometimes when I click on Start it pops up or when I open my recycle bin and it refreshes/restarts my explorer.exe automatically after that like nothing ever happened.

    I have done sfc /scannow, no errors found. Memory diagnostic didn't find anything.

    I don't know if this might be the problem or not but I have moved my "Users" folder to D: drive (Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music etc) But since I have moved my "Users" folder to D: drive before and it didn't affect my PC so I don't think this might be the issue.

    Hi, see if it happens in
    a. Safe Mode
    b. after a clean boot

    If it occurs after a clean boot, consider disabling shell extensions. E.g. by using Shellexview, Autoruns etc
