Windows 10 trying to install keyboard features

    hello every one ,

I cannot stop windows 10 trying to install keyboard features , like Spanish typing.
the only option I have is to cancel the installation (probably downloading) at this time ,but after a while ,
    it starts again.
is there any option to prevent this attempt once and for all?

    thank you in advance.

    Hello, globar. Welcome to TenForums.

Does your keyboard show up in Devices and Printers as shown in the tutorial below? If not, you may have to turn off driver update for your PC so Windows doesn't update that driver. Be aware that it deprives other driver updates, so every now and then (once a month, quarter?) you may want to turn this on so they do so. Save that older driver somewhere in case you have to load it again. Hopefully some day they'll make it so we can pick and choose that individually for every driver.

You're welcome. Sorry to see that didn't work for you although it should have.

To be sure > It is downloading an updated driver for your keyboard, correct?

Did you try both options in the tutorial?

My apology. My bad. It's extra features you have. You must have a multi-language Windows edition or installed other languages?

What you need to do is eliminate those languages.

Open Settings app > Choose "Time & language" > Choose "Region & language" > Click/tap on a language and choose a choice.

I know I make it difficult, but I need these languages . I'm mailing in these languages and there are necessary applications installed, that do not work properly without them. Thanks for your time any way.

In case you do not need language packs of those additional languages, adding them to Windows language list is wrong method to get their keyboard layouts installed. Adding a language automatically downloads and installs two optional features (typing and OCR), the term "optional" being somewhat misleading in this case. There's nothing you can do to prevent it.

I can't understand why don't you just let them install? Combined size of those two features is, depending on language, between 250 and 350 MB which really is an insignificant amount of storage space used.

If you just want to add a keyboard language, correct method is to add it to your existing display language. Click display language (top most in language list), select Options:

Select Add a keyboard, select the input language you need:

That's it, no additional features will be installed. If you compare above two screenshots, you'll notice that as I do not need Spanish language pack (display language), I've not added it my language list (first screenshot), but as I occasionally need Spanish input language I've just added its keyboard to my current display language English (second screenshot). No Typing and OCR components for Spanish were / are installed on my machine.

You can now remove additional languages from language list

Hello Kari , thanks for answering.

I do need all the installed languages.
I didn't try to prevent the installation when I first saw it, but it never ends the installation.
Every time it starts and it stops after a while, saying that something happened and it cannot finish it.
After that happened numerous times , then I started to find a way to prevent it.
