An old programs caused me days of grief

I don't know where else to share this but perhaps I can save others grief.

For a long time I was using Magellan Explorer, all the way back to XP and perhaps earlier. However, DO NOT INSTALL IT IN WINDOWS 10. It will corrupt the operating system, disable the Start Button and cause a few other things.

I've spent several days trying to fix the problem(s) and re-installing Windows 10 both over-writing everything or trying to save programs and/or data.

You get too comfortable using a program like Magellan Explorer but this is a time to give it up. There are alternatives, Google it and you'll find some.

It is a 32-bit program. Doing some digging I've found other of my well-known-and-loved programs can be updated to a 64-bit version, which I'm slowly doing.

It isn't so bad if it just doesn't "work right" but it's very bad when it cause additional harm.

Closely related: the programs that evaluate for Windows 10 compatibility only evaluate the "install.exe" file or whatever the installation file is called. It doesn't evaluate the internal program itself, so this test can be misleading.
