Is this solution for 0x80070057 safe?

Creators Update gives me a 0x80070057 error in Windows Update that I've not been able to fix. Just came across this claimed fix that involves editing COM security properties. I have no familiarity with COM security; is this a safe change to make?

    1. Type : dcomcnfg
    2. Click on: Component Services folder, then Computer folder, then My computer.
    3. Right click to go to properties.
    4. COM Security, Edit Defaults:
    5. click on Add, and then choose Advanced. Click on Locations and then choose: Local Computer Name, or Simply Type: Everyone
6.Under User Names choose the account that you added and then choose Local Access in the Permissions area and then place a check mark in the Allow.
    7. then Mark: Enable Distributed COM.
    Restart.
    8. if your problem continued , pls Disable Windows updates Service, Then Delete SoftwareDistiribion folders, then Re Enable Windows update service again.

Go with option 8. I have used that before without problems.

Step 8 by itself doesn't fix it for me; my question is whether steps 1-7 are safe (system stability, system security)

Sorry I never used those steps before, but they seem to be OK. In step 5 don't use "Everyone" Use local computer name, and you should be OK. I am going to run thru the steps and see what it affects.

Went up to step 5, did not like what it entailed. I believe a simple mistake or typo could cause a problem. I am going to look into the error messages and see what I can find.

I watched the video, and it was straight forward. But better safe then sorry. Do you have creator's update install media on a flash drive?

Yes, I have it on a flash drive.
Is there a simple explanation for what this COM Security change actually does? I'm just a bit reticent to change something called "security" in a way that grants access to "everyone," and I don't know anything about COM Security.
