Why did Windows 10 explorer.exe connect to Akamai?
23.4.59.27
This is the first time I've seen this. What do you think caused this?

Uninstall it as it's considered as malware some software installs it and it's used as a p2p to cache data it uses you as a host for other users so it takes all your bandwidth
Explorer can check digital signatures, like for msi installers.
If you block it, you might get Unverified Publisher in details.
Invalid information, bad advice.
Akamai is most definitely not malware. It is a content delivery system used by Microsoft (since 1999) and many other major players. Read more: Akamai Technologies - Wikipedia
A simple way to see how akamaiedge.net addresses are connected to Microsoft is to run Trace Route on your Windows PC.
Run commandtracert www.microsoft.com
to see it by yourself:

Yeah just bend over and let M$ push you around. Be submissive. Give them all your data.
Are you just plain old not aware of the amount of data MSC is hoovering? Just take one quick glance in app data folder, at any of the temp files, and you will have no choice but to admit this. They are no worse than say google, or having the amazon app on your phone, but it seems foolish of you and a bit naive to laugh at and make fun of people for being bothered by data mining. Seriously, go look in app data at some of the temp files...
