On launch day, you MAY NOT be able to upgrade all your computers!

As most of us know by now, MS will be doing a rolling upgrade of PCs top Win10 lasting up to a month according to MS. Us insiders will be able to upgrade our current machines that are on the fast ring. Don't expect to upgrade all of your computers that are not on the Win10 preview in the house tho. Yes, we may be able to use a USB stick or DVD made from our RTM upgrade to upgrade them, but it probably will NOT activate nor will you get a valid Win10 license. It may be necessary to wait until MS decides that your other computers are next in line and have to use the MS servers to do the upgrade for the activation and license to properly validate the computer. MS will be pushing the upgrades out at their own pace and I doubt that there will be any way to get around this except by getting them all on the Win10 preview version.
This is my own opinion and I have not seen anything by MS to back this up, but be prepared.

From a post here from Mick823: I joined the insider program about 6 months ago and have been getting the updates regularly. When the 10240 version came out I updated one PC via the update route. I then used the ESD file from that installation to create an ISO to make a clean install on a second machine. The installation worked OK but the activation will not work no matter what you try. I had to revert back to the old version via an image and then do the in place upgrade to get a validated copy. It will be interesting to see how you end up with installation media that will activate properly.

sorry, I put a link onto the post here on TenForums by Mick823. I thought it was an important enough point to start a new thread rather than take over the other thread which had a different topic.

Not me but here's an excerpt I found :
    "
I would like to report that I just ended a chat with Italian Windows Support, and they openly told me that my build 10240 (Upgraded from genuine 8.1, then Clean Installed skipping product key AND permanently Activated via web connection) will become "Final" on 29th of July by simply doing Windows Updates, no reinstall/upgrades needed.
(this confirms again that 10240 is true RTM)

Also, they told me to expect a "cumulative patch" via Windows Update everyday till 29th... "

It was known that you can't activate 10240 and that you only could do that via upgrade.

So if that is the case, and CountMike is right about 100240 is the RTM (make sense although I bet there will be a day one update with a few changes and we officially get a valid Win10 license), we will still need MS to push us the final update. Or do we already have a valid Win10 license?

The Italian Windows support team as a source? Heh.

Appears so, judging from that text. I booted to my 8.1 twice today and there were no large updates apart from yesterday's security update.

MS will push a final update for WIn10 on or starting on the 29th. As for the key.. I'm not sure .. we might get a new on or just use our Win7/WIn8.1 key.

For me I trust MS directly as a source of information and what is posted here from known experienced members.
