    Technical Difficulties are happening tonight


    I seem to be having technical difficulties tonight. My phone is having delayed messages through Facebook Messenger and my laptop says it wasn't fully up to date. I don't understand as I am always on top of keeping all of my computers up to date. It's supposed to be set to Automatic Updates anyways. Below is the screenshot of what my computer said. In regards to the phone, I was told by a friend that she was experiencing delayed messages through Facebook Messenger as well. She said the software on these iPhones always get buggy when they are about to release a software update such as iOS 10.3.3 and iOS 11.

    Regarding Windows update, did you click "Restart now" ?

    I am seeing this message on both my PC's. One is running Pro and the other Home versions of W10.

    Edit... this kind of explains it. Users are not going to like seeing this kind of warning, what is the betting that MS change this behaviour.

    I had the same notification on both my PCs last night too.
    I'm supposing they used the push notification because of this: {{windowTitle}}

    A remote code execution vulnerability exists when Windows Search handles objects in memory. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take control of the affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.

    To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker could send specially crafted SMB messages to the Windows Search service. An attacker with access to a target computer could exploit this vulnerability to elevate privileges and take control of the computer. Additionally, in an enterprise scenario, a remote unauthenticated attacker could remotely trigger the vulnerability through an SMB connection and then take control of a target computer.


    The security update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how Windows Search handles objects in memory.

    After the major problems ten days or so ago when internal MS builds got released as updates (and caused me several hours work wondering what was going on) I set my Pro version to defer updates.

    I am still being told that my system is out of date and to run a manual check to 'fix this'. I presume, because of my settings, that the updates are not found and yet the message persists. Not good.

    Defender is updating normally.
