Power Management DLL Error Every Time I Open Control Panel

Dear friends,

Since the last couple of days, every time I open the Control Panel on Windows 10 Pro I get a Power Manager popup DLL error.

I can close it and everything gets back to normal, but it slows the computer and sometimes completely freezes it.

Any ideas how to make this error go away? It happens only when I open the Control Panel, and I open it a lot, so it is quite annoying.

A few things:

It is on a Lenovo x240 laptop, all drivers and windows updates are up to date, the only recent changes were a replacement of screen and fan.

It didn't work for me :-(

This solution only helps when the DLL appears right after login to the lenovo laptop.

In my case it only appears when opening the Control Panel.

I disabled the task just in case, but it didn't help.

Any other ideas?

OK, thanks, I will check it out and let you know!

Problem solved. Solution (in my case) - go to c:/windows/system32 and delete the file PWMCP64V.cpl from there.

Based on a solution from the link you gave me, reply number 13 - only there the suggestion was to remove the file PWMCP32V.cpl, which I did not have in my system 32. I did have the PWMCP64V.cpl and after deleting it the issue disappeared.

I don't like deleting stuff when I don't fully understand what unintended consequences it might bring, but in this case I decided to go for it even though I still don't understand the significance of this file and what else it affected.

But it solved my problem, so thank you very much for pointing me to that thread!
