Ms account on 2 machines change on 1 appears on the other NOT WANTED

    Hi there

Build 10240 - running Ms account on Two machines - same Ms account. Now if I change the background / Theme etc on ONE machine it also appears on the other one when you reboot it.

Is there any way to STOP this -- I have different monitors and graphics etc on the two machines so if I change the theme on ONE machine I don't want the same theme on the other one.

This idea that all devices should always be 100 % sync'd is a NUISANCE --some things are OK (email etc) but I don't need 100% Equality -- our computers need to be a little less Socialistic !!!.

I don't want to run a whole slew of different Ms accounts either -- makes sharing etc a nuisance and screws up email when you set up Office 2016 accounts.

    Cheers
    jimbo.

    Hi,
Its under the sync settings, turn it all off or selectively turn off what you don't want

    Hi there

    Thanks

I was really surprised when I booted up the Laptop and found the Background and theme had changed to the one on the Desktop without me doing anything to it at all.

    Cheers

The other way you can do it, if you never want any syncing of preferences is during install

If you already have a machine with 10 installed, when you do a clean install on another machine (same ms account), during install it will detect the first machine and ask if you want to sync settings or set it up as a new machine

It was even syncing between my 8.1 and 10 as they are both on same MS account. It was a good thing at first because of syncing of other stuff. For instance, I have WU on 8.1 set to Notify only and so it persists on 10 too. I have to click on Check for updates to see them. Some things are not synced, like automatic update of drivers, which I exempt from automatic updates so in 10 I had to do it separately.
I turned syncing off now because I want different themes on W 10.

I normally allow syncing, except language preferences and background images...

I turn off Start Screen Tiles and layout. Other wise every time I switch from my laptop to my desktop, and vice versa, all my tiles are jumbled around. Two different sized screens. Synced to my Windows 10 PC too, same Microsoft Account.
