    Windows 10 occasionally freezes / Slow shut down.


    :) Hi all.
    Recently I have noticed one or two problems (niggles), crop up.
    1. Windows 10 occasionally freezes for no apparent reason that I can see.
    2. Start up appears slightly longer on the start.
    3. Shutdown / Restart, noticeably slower.
    I have run full virus checks with Kapersky 2017 plus Malwarebyte Anti malware and the result was good all round.

    My system:-
    Windows 10 Pro.
    Dell XPS 420.
    2 Drives (C,D) of 2 TB each.
    System check.

    Open administrative command prompt and run:

    1) sfc /scannow
    2) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    3) chkdsk /scan

    Report results into the forum

    Compare performance before and after turning off fast start up:

    If the above does not fix the freezes and or startup, shutdown issues:
    Monitor performance before and after clean boot:

    So far the operating system is OK per scannow and restorehealth

    For chkdsk /scan use this administrative prompt command to post into the forum:

    get-winevent -FilterHashTable @{logname="Application"; id="1001"}| ?{$_.providername –match "wininit"} | fl timecreated, message | out-file Desktop\CHKDSKResults.txt

    Check the performance with fast start up off.

    Check the performance when using clean boot.

    1.Do you wish me to enter this into Admin command prompt?
    2. "Fast startup"-Where do I find that?

    I am running version 1703;Edition Windows 10 Pro; Build 15063.332.
    Clean Boot?

    Yes after any chkdsk command is run and there are results the results are in eventvwr. This command when copy and pasted into administrative command prompt will find the chkdsk /scan results and post the results as a .txt file on the desktop. Copy that file and paste into the forum.
