Windows 10 will not send fax - wants a tif file!?

I scanned a few documents as jpegs. I want to use Windows 10 fax and scan, and now get this message

Windows can't fax or preview the attached file type. Try installing a program that allows you to print .tif files, save the attached file as a .tif file, and then try again.

    What?!

I can convert them to tif files - which is very tedious, and then they're TOO BIG to fax

And then when it fails, I have to do the WHOLE thing over again

Why can't I fax a jpeg? I used to be able to do this.

I also need to fax multiple page pdfs. Will WFS be able to do this?

I REALLY need to get this working asap.

    Still not working

Thanks. I did read this earlier.
I ran sfc and "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

I finally found the problem. Windows 10 changed the default program for PDF files to be the EDGE browser. Changed all PDF files to use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to open.

Windows Fax and Scan now will attach PDF files and Fax using Adobe to convert to Fax format. So Windows Fax and Scan in Windows 10 continues to work as it did under Windows 7.
    is what I noted.

Although I don't have a modem so can't try this properly, I did note I could attach a pdf document to a FAX and could save it as draft. My guess is you found it failed later on when you tried to send it. Is that what happens?

How are you trying to send the jpg file? I do this by opening the file in an application, and then printing to the FAX selection. The file is automatically converted to the proper FAX format (tif) and sends correctly.

Thanks again. I did this too. Still get the same message about tif file. This seems really bizarre
