Cannot Download Apps/Install Updates from the Store (0x87AF000B)

    Hello,

I'm experiencing some issues with my machine running Windows 10 x64 build 15063 (Creator's Update/Version 1703). Initially, I was having (and still having) issues using calc.exe (calculator), as Windows doesn't recognize the app "existing" (I get a choose default app dialog when I run it). All I am trying to do is to re-install it from the store. I force-removed it using a PS script, but now I need to reinstall from the store. When I try to install it, I get this ever-so-helpful message:
Cannot Download Apps/Install Updates from the Stpre (0x87AF000B)-image.png
Not only does the Store throw this error when I install this app, it happens with any other app or app update that I want to install.

This machine is the only one I have that has seen issues since installing 15063, as I have a Surface Pro 4 and a Thinkpad that hasn't experienced any issues. Kind of ridiculous how half-baked Windows is, and that it can't even run the Calculator app.

    Any help is welcomed!

    Thanks in advance

Any idea how I could make the windows 10 store live tile updating again? Lately it has not been showing me whats new in the store. The other live tiles work just fine.

@Bree: I have tried this previously, but I can try it again from this guide.
@Redbatman: I would try turning the live tile on and off again, which may refresh it. Otherwise, I would run (Windows key + R) wsreset.exe, which resets the Store and then restart. Quick note though, your post is off topic from the main subject of the post, so I would make your own thread and not bring up your otherwise off-topic issue in a thread involving a separate issue .

@Bree It appears that this has not helped. I get the same error code when trying to install from PS:

Cannot Download Apps/Install Updates from the Stpre (0x87AF000B)-image.png
As you can see, there are several instances where the error code appears and is unable to install the app.

There are a number of threads on Microsoft regarding the Store and error 0x87AF000B (though none seem marked 'solved'). Many mention that it will work correctly signed into Windows with another account (local or Microsoft). Here's one...

It suggests that something in your user profile is to blame. Have you tried using a different user account?

So I created the new user profile, and it fixed the problem; guessing the old one was corrupted. It was a pain to migrate stuff to the new account, but it's worth fixing this annoying issue. Thanks @Bree!

Sometimes it's the only way. As I said, none of the threads I found had a solution for the existing account.

Yeah, it's due to "profile incompatibility" when doing an in-place upgrade from a previous version of Windows 10, so hopefully MS sorts it out.
