New motherboard and CPU
Ok I think I am having to give up on what on earth is wrong with my Ivy Bridge build (2012) and replace the board (and CPU) with either of these
Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming3 ATX 1151 Motherboard GA-Z170X-Gaming3 | shopping express online (impressive price) or
Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 ATX 1151 Motherboard GA-Z170-HD3 | shopping express online again impressive price
teamed with this
Intel Core i7-6700 3.40GHz LGA1151 CPU BX80662I76700 | shopping express online - not planning on any clocking.
I have had an Asus board P8Z77-V in Ivy with a i5 3750K and I am very tempted to go back with Gigabyte as the Sandy Bridge is still going strong on a Gigabyte with a locked i5.
Don't game just watch Youtubes email forum etc etc and am not impressed really with the Asus board.
I ant to keep to Skylake / Z170 chipsets because I am not really interested in screaming performance or any of the incompatibility crap that I see happens with the Kabylake stuff and the B250 chipsets well to me it seems out of control now. Plus my budget is limited at the moment even if I was interested. But I would like an i7 and not the i5 core unless someone can convince me that the i5 Skylake CPU's are as good as the i7's.
It was an experience to play around with overclock but really is not an absolute necessity to me.
So any ideas and thoughts welcome oh and the RAM I was looking at 8GB at any speed and reasonably priced like these

If the DDR3 board is ok then I have a stack of spare DDR3 matched pairs.
