Lock Screen Kicks In When Monitor Tuns Off...

i've disabled the lock screen but if i set the monitor to turn off after x minutes (power options), the lock screen is waiting for me when i wake up the monitor... if i set the monitor to never turn off, the lock screen never kicks in... fwiw i've set the nolockscreen in the registry to 1... also, to be clear, i've set my pc to boot to the desktop, no login is requested, so the lock screen that appears after monitor wake up is more like a phone lock screen, all i have to do is swipe it to get to my desktop, no log in is required... so how do i disable the lock completely? thanks!

ok, seems that the nolockscreen registry edit no longer functions since the anniversary update, and that completely disabling the lock screen is no longer possible according to many around the net who have asked about this....

my workaround is a small program called "shadenow", it's at least 10 years old but still works, kinda... it allows you to set a dim time and a dim % for your pc monitor, unlike f.flux which is a completely different animal that folks like to recommend for this... the only prob is that it doesn't remember your settings after a pc restart, you have to set your parameters again, for me this doesn't pose much of a pron because i never turn off my pc nor do i reboot often...

speaking of very old programs that still work, i also installed another ancient program called "desklock" which does a great job of locking desktop icons in place...

    Hello @aeneas1, :)

If it helps, starting with Windows 10 Creators Update build 16170, the lock screen can be completely disabled again.

thanks for the heads up, maybe i'll revisit it once i update to 16170, but everything is working fine now with my workaround... that said, it appears that the registry edit will work again if you have pro, but not if you home...
