How do I have 2 Environments at the same time

I have a Microsoft Surface Book connected to 2 external monitors and I remote into my work PC using VMWare software. I would like to use that environment on the external monitors and my regular Windows 10 environment on my Surface Book display. Is this possible? If so what do I need to do?

You can run multiple desktops under the same login. You can alsu run a VM if the laptop has enough horsepower.

Multiple desktops is not a bad option however all my monitors will show the currently chosen desktop and I could do the same by just minimizing the remote session.

Perhaps there is no way to do what I'm asking?

I may be missing something, but why not just drag the VMWare window over to the second monitor? I often do the same thing, using dual monitors. I'll have vSphere and the console open on one screen, while I have Outlook or whatever else I'm working on open on the other screen.

So I guess I would need to remote in and somehow choose single monitor rather than multiple monitor? I will have to mess around with remote settings to see if this works.

Ok so yes this works. All I have to do is open the VMWare session by not choosing multiple monitors and it is very helpful to go ahead and set one of my large monitors as the main monitor so that everything in that session fills the screen correctly. I don't think I'll be able to use both large displays in the VMWare environment and then my Surface Book's screen in a regular environment because if I choose multiple monitors then they all go to the remote session. But that's ok as this is quite nice.

Arrange the monitor so that you have the most real estate without making the desktop too high where you have to squint or keep changing to a lower resolution. I used shortcuts attached to the Task bar for those items that were constantly getting used on my old employer's workstation that I was assigned to. I would have the main app we were using all day long on the left. On the right would be a spreadsheet that would get switched between another program that we used during the day.

This is very helpful. I did notice that I would need to make adjustment of some type and adding fast start icons in the task bar will be a breeze. I'll make these adjustments tonight and give it a whirl.

Make it easy for you and do not load up the Quick Links with too many. I had Internet Explorer, File Explorer, Calculator (you can download the old Windows 7 Calc from Old Windows 7 Calculator for Windows 10), Outlook, Trash, Spreadsheet link/Excel, Adobe PDF.

The only things that I keep on my desktop behind the windows are a couple of files that I access every now and then and a couple of shortcuts for my home NAS. Easier that making a bunch of clicks or search for those items.
