Windows 10: Thumbnail inconsistency, again.

Thumbnail inconsistency, again.
Anyone else having frequent problems with File Explorer thumbnails not correctly matching the image?
The rather tedious 'fix' here to rebuild the Icon cache

works but the issue soon returns for me.
What could be the likely fundamental cause?
I encounter it typically after opening a JPG in IrfanView, editing and re-saving it.
In case it's relevant, although I have both installed I use the 32-bit version of IrfanView (on this Win 10 Pro 64-bit PC) because of its fuller plug-in support. Anyway, the issue probably has nothing to do with IrfanView.

Thanks dalchina, I installed and ran that yesterday but it doesn't really solve the problem.
I've just been pointed to this thread, which looks pertinent at first look. Intend to study later. But at least it seems that I'm not the only user exasperated by it.
