    When is Creators Update safe?

I have four Windows computers, and generally use only three. The forth was an older Vista machine that was given to me, and I took it with the intention of loading it with Linux Mint. However, when I get it hooked up and powered on, I found someone had replaced Vista with Windows 10 Home -- so, I resisted the temptation to scrub the hard disk and set it aside. A few weeks later, I checked for updates, and brought it up-to-date. A few weeks later I got the "Good News! The Windows 10 Creators Update is on its way...." Since this is an older machine, I didn't want to jump into anything, so I'll letting it set, and continued checking the Creators Update message weekly.

Some postings I've seen implied that the "Want to be one of the first to get it?" message will go away; but I eventually got impatient and jumped in: the update proceeded without any problem.

QUESTION: Will the "Want to be first...." message go away on my other machines (the ones I use) and imply that all the device drivers for my particular configuration are ready and the Creators Update will be about as safe as it is gonna get, so I could go ahead with the update? My main machine, a Intel Core 2 Quad-Core, is nine years old and was custom made for me with components I choose & purchased. It will be last. But I'd like to slowly proceed with the other two ...

I downloaded the ISO file and manually upgraded all the computers on my home network (about a dozen of them) with no issues at all. That's the way I have done all the past major updates to Windows 10 in the past as well. All you have to do is right click on the ISO file, select mount, and run setup.exe from the drive letter that appears.

Overall, I think the process is pretty safe. WIth anything, a few people have issues. Some due to configurations on their part, some due to tweaks/mods/changes they have made to make the machine fit them, and some just due to gremlins.

Those who experienced a major problem during the update, have mostly all rolled back just fine automatically. As another person said, take an image, and then go for it.
