Any way to make computer sleep on login screen when inactive?

The owner of the transitional house I live in keeps unplugging my power strip because the computer somehow wakes up when I'm asleep or at work. I don't know if someone is purposely touching the mouse or keyboard, or if it's somehow accidental, but he unplugs it if I'm not using it and it's on. If it's asleep, he doesn't touch it.

I always put it asleep when I leave the desk for more than 20-30 minutes. It should NOT be on at random times during the day or night. I've gotten up for work at 5:30 am and the PC is on. I've come home on lunch break or after work, and it's unplugged. I'm aware that it updates and such, but doesn't it go back to sleep afterwards? It usually doesn't update on it's own, oddly enough, I have to manually check. ANYWAY....

Is there some way to make it go to sleep if it's inactive, on the login screen for, say, ten minutes?

The next time you find your machine awake could you please open a command prompt(admin) and type the following command

powercfg -lastwake

This will tell you what issued the wake up call. Hopefully you can then deal with cause.

If the power button is down in the bottom right hand corner then yes, if not, no.

It`s there on my Sign in screen.

I`ll have to test and see if it will go to sleep on it`s own while on the Sign in screen.

Came back about 20 minutes later and the PC was asleep :)

There is only one power plan for all users on PC. So if you want Windows to behave differently when User is logged on and logged off, power plan must be changed...

There could be some other possibility, one simple solution comes to mind...
Instead of logging off with clicking on power button or with keyboard, you could set a batch file (or powershell) consisting of setting power plan and command for log of

switching power plan:

powercfg /s [GUID of the power plan]

You can get GUID with command

powercfg /l

for logging off

shutdown /l

Of course, when you log on, another command would have to be run to change power plan for never go to sleep...

Could you explain the "GUID" bit a little more?
