    To make this more interesting...
After several explorer kill processes trying to replicate the issue from powershell, I now also get a black screen when I end the eplorer task from the windows task manager, exactly as it should work?

    Dumbfounded....
It seems to depend on what apps you have open and whether they are minimised when you kill explorer. I have several open, maximised or in windows (Task Manager, IE, a command or Powershell prompt, etc.). These are what remain visible and useable.

Yes, Windows explorer will stay open if there are apps open, even if explorere is ended in the task manager. Close all apps or close the apps after you have ended the process in taskmanager, and you should get a black screen with task manager open only.

    You can then restart explorer.

jl2509, Got it!!! I found that folder is hidden, and then I transferred the Group1,2,3 folders in and restarted explorer.exe and Viola!!! it's working.

For a newcomer, your pretty smart.

P.S. Bree, I also appreciated your input, but just for my preference, I liked the command line solution.
