Desperate - PC just crashed while playing a video and can't reboot

I am unfamiliar with Linux which is what I'm on currently to access this forum. How do I burn that file to a disc? I'm used to using imgburn in Windows but on Linux I'm lost. It's currently downloading but I don't even know where it is being written to by default. Is it being downloaded just to memory or on my boot drive somewhere? It's downloading to /mint/downloads, wherever that is.

Swap the cable on that drive maybe a issue with the cable check power cable as well, i hope that helps, drives can fail on the boot sector, but still be able to recover information, i would try swapping cable, and make sure power is fully plugged in, if that does not work then i'm afraid the drive is bad, bad sector on the boot partition will cause it to not boot.

It's not a cable issue. The PC has been fine since I built it months ago, until an hour ago when I clicked in media player classic to skip ahead in the video. The instant I clicked the progress bar I got a blue screen. Somehow that caused Windows to crash and it somehow must have corrupted something.

How can watching a video permanently corrupt the OS? I refuse to believe this can't be repaired. If so then Windows 10 is bafflingly unusable as an OS to allow itself to get corrupted from watching a video.

Why can't the Windows installer thumb drive repair itself? That's the whole point of the repair option but it seems to do nothing.

I only offered a help as to check the cables sometimes cables can be partly connected and you can still get data or look at it but not be able to boot has happened tome on several occasions, was only a suggestion, but as i said it could also be a bad sector on your boot partition, which in turn the drive is bad and will need to be replaced, drives can only have so many relocated sector counts before they just go bye bye. i have a drive i know and its my main drive that someday it will go bye bye as it has few relocated sector counts, but i have all , programs backed up and a new 2 tb model inside ready to go granted its a laptop drive but it will work none the less. as a blog i follow frequently ask Leo always says back up back up as you never no when a drive will go bye bye.

Boot Disk: Partition Boot Sector is damaged <------ you can try this if it does not work then you have a bad sector on the drive like i said and it will need replaced.

How can I burn that image file linked to in an earlier post - Kyhl's bootable rescue disc? I right-click the downloaded ISO in Linux and I get an option to open in disk image writer. But in my list of drives, my DVD burner is listed as read-only, so I don't have the option to burn the disc. Why is it listed as read-only in linux? If I can burn that disc I can try using that to run a chkdsk or system restore.
