Hi guys - back to give you an update.
I have had some time to consider a plan and this is it:
I have ordered a new computer (was planning to do so in a couple of months anyway) and am going to load my files on that so that I have something working properly that I can trust. Hopefully this will be done in the next week or so. Then I will persist with the advice you guys have given me and try and get that software working on disk or stick to check the drives and hopefully take an image. Also to try and extract some of the older software license keys, although I may actually have them from 3 years ago when I last wiped and formatted the machine. I ran something called Jellybean or something back then to get them. I think I might have a record of them.
If that fails, I will just wipe the disk and reformat anyway and you will be happy that I might evendecide to remove the RAID 0 configuration, which I nearly did last time!
I did contact Microsoft today and they confirmed that WIN 10 free upgrades are linked to my WIN 7 subscription key and checked for me that mine is valid for WIN 10. So this means I will be able to have a nice clean WIN 10 install instead of a Vista updated to win 7 updated to win 10.
I will keep you guys updated and be back when I am ready to try and get that image and check the disk!
