File Explorer Compression & WinZip?
Not wanting to hijack an existing thread, I'm asking here. Does WinZip offer better options & features than the built-in File Explorer compression?

The main reason I ever got WinZip was for its ability to create an exe./executable file from a .zip file, share with someone else and all they needed to was double-click it to decompress, didn't need a program to do it. There may have been more/better features depending upon ones need.
One needs to remember/understand is that back in Win3.0 days a third-party software was needed for some functions such as a Font manager that were licensed/included in Win3.1x, like Kodak Imaging that was licensed and went away just a couple of versions later. As Windows has progressed many things have made it more complete for a lot of users. Anyone recall After Dark screensavers from the very-early '90s?

An executable with a password would be my goal. A buddy and I are wanting to provide "offsite" back up for each other.

Just do not forget that compressed files could get easily corrupted, even with a repair archive attached.
So using it for a backup might seems like a good idea, but in the end, you might loose everything.

Hmmm. You do have a point. And that's one of those things that you don't discover until it's too late. Thanks pro bringing this up.
