Okay. Tell you what, let's wait for TC tomorrow. It's late for me, and I need to sign off.

    OK!! Plan "B"......

Because I can't see what Eileen sees I made myself a burn-account with AOL. ID/PW available via PM.

I added a fictitious contact in the AOL Mail Contacts.

I also installed the AOL Desktop in a VM. (just in case...that's easy to get rid of)

The Chrome and Gmail account needs to be set up first. You need to be signed into your Google account via Chrome. Then go to Google Contacts (link below) and follow instructions.

Import, restore, or back up contacts - Gmail Help

I now have the AOL contacts imported into Gmail.

I can do more screenshots if necessary, but the instructions are clear once you get into the links.

TC that's exactly what happened when I migrated someone from ATT?Yahoo to Gmail. (although there was an option to use a third-party, one-time assistance to migrate everything, including all saved emails.) :)

It worked perfectly for the contacts. I also managed to export the contacts as a CSV, but I didn't post anything about it. Thought this was pretty cut 'n dried.

Okay here is where I am at. I have the contacts/address book downloaded on my desktop. Woo Hoo!

Now I need my favorite places saved. I went to Chrome -contacts-more-import
and CSV. if I import it gives me no choice and downloads contacts again.
    I want my favorite places...

After I get my favorites downloaded I will need help putting them into Chrome. Just think, another 2 weeks I could have this uninstalled. *sigh*
