    @purplelover

Eileen, that is done inside Gmail.

How to Import Files From AOL Mail to Gmail | Chron.com

    Example....

Try it. You have to be IN your Gmail to do this.

    Tomcat
I was getting so close..... I entered my email address and my Aol password and get this.....

Step 1: Sign into your other email account Enter the password
Could not validate this combination of email address and password. If you are sure your password is correct, sign in to your other mail provider to confirm and complete any necessary captchas or image verification tests and then try the import again. Your password will be stored securely and deleted after we've finished importing your mail.

I KNOW my password and it is not taking it. I signed off and signed back on and same message.

mail provider to confirm and complete any necessary captchas or image verification tests and then try the import again
I have no idea what a "captchas" is or how to initiate a verification.

What in the world do I do next????It looked like it was going to work.....

Okay I get past the password, and now to click lets go! Except you have to agree to a 3rd party to transfer your enail info and basically do anything they want with it.

I have real privacy issues with AOL and I should let this unknown party spy on me and pass my info to anyone t hey want?

if I don't agree it looks like
i have to close the window. Isn't that special. Ideas anyone?????

    too late to be up.....Eileen

Eileen, I understand your misgivings, but in this case, it's ok. This is a sanctioned transfer service. Google doesn't want to, and shouldn't, have direct access to AOL. And vice versa. So they use a neutral go-between. I tested and here's the screen of your choices, after you accept. Notice you have an option for it to continue to transfer your AOL incoming mail for the next 30 days, in addition to what is already in your AOL mailbox. This is good, because it gives all your contacts time to set their records straight with your new Gmail account.

You have 3 choices now. 1 - transfer your mail and be done with it. 2 - Manually forward every single AOL inbox mail to Gmail (). 3 - do nothing (always a choice, maybe not a good one).

I choose Door #1, transfer my mail and be done with it. So grateful you and everyone has/have not given up on me.

It says it can take 2 days before anything shows it was transferred.

Stay tuned I am sure there is more to come.....

Glad to hear, Eileen. Takes a couple days because it's not any priority on AOL's servers to help you say goodbye!
