Start menu "greyed out" after Creators update

    OK, but that link does NOT remove Cortana. MS has made it even more clear with the creators update that if you mess with Cortana, it will punitively disable a number of other functions.

    If you have a method for "properly" removing Cortana to the point where it does not use memory, then please post that.

    Thank you for this. I had renamed the folder where cortana was located. I've now undone that and followed your link to safely disable it.

    One thing though, I'm not sure if it is related to my having disabled disabled cortana but, somehow windows doesn't remember my "Windows+Run" commands history such as 'Regedit, mspaint, gpedit.msc, etc'. I have to re-type them every single time.

    Make sure, that "Show most used apps" is enabled.
