CTRL + H opens History....very useful for backtracking, works both on Edge and Google Chrome.

I have managed to create a SendTo entry for Edge that opens dropped .url files in Edge. This lets obstinate IE users like me open IE Favorites' urls in Edge when needs dictate [such as wanting to print from within MSDocs webpages].
I believe that this is unique because I spent ages unsuccessfully searching online for anybody else's solution.

I know this is an old post, but how do you use it? I created the vbs, even placed a shortcut to it in SendTo and on my Desktop. If I drag the icon for a URL to the Desktop shortcut and drop it, nothing happens. Right clicking on a URL or the URL icon does not give me a SendTo choice, so how do I make this work?
Rich,
You seem to be using it as intended. You drop a .url file on the shortcut or use right-click, SendTo & select the shortcut.
1 These links are .url not .website or any of the other types?
2 "Right clicking on a URL or the URL icon does not give me a SendTo choice" It sounds to me like the shortcut you made to this vbs is faulty or it would appear in SendTo.
3 I'm not certain what you mean by "a URL or the URL icon". Was this comment significant?
Test the vbs by dropping a .url file on the vbs [rather than any shortcut to it]. I have double-checked the code I posted and it is exactly what I am using.

What is a .url file? I think I'm missing a concept here? Do you mean a link or shortcut? Where would it be found?
I'm talking about browsing with IE or Firefox and dragging the icon in the address bar (URL area at the top of the browser) or a link on a page I'm looking at to the shortcut on the Desktop. Nothing I right click on brings up a SendTo option in the context menu.
Rich,
urls are one type of shortcut / link to an internet location.
- They can be created in IE using "Add to favourites".
- They can also be created within File explorer using the context menu's New, Shortcut entry [the "New shortcut wizard"].
- They can also be created by dragging a shortcut from within an internet page in IE onto the Desktop.
I wrote that vbs procedure for .url files.
Another type of internet shortcut is the .website format created by dragging the IE address bar icon onto the Desktop. My vbs procedure cannot handle them because vbs does not understand them.
You can check which type an internet shortcut is by right-clicking, selecting Properties, General tab and looking in the Type of file entry.
Are you also saying that you have a system fault, that your SendTo entry does not appear when you right-click whilst you have a folder/file selected on the Desktop or in File explorer? I imagine that I have merely misunderstood you.

Ah, okay, not as useful as I had hoped. Did get it working though, thanks for taking the time to explain...
Rich,
I would imagine that your .website internet shortcuts could be processed in a PowerShell procedure but I have not needed to do that [because I only ever create .url shortcuts].
You can see the internal structure of .url and .website internet shortcuts by dropping them into Notepad windows. Just as I extracted the TargetPath property in my vbs, a PowerShell procedure could extract the rest of the line beginning URL=https://
