Yes I discovered the same thing, that seems to fix it. My people app still looses its live tile every few days but an uninstall and reinstall brings it back. A clean of the live tile cache doesn't. A bit of a pain but at least it can be fixed.

That's good to hear. Glad there are some workarounds to make things work.

I decided to do a clean install of the Anniversary Update just to make sure I wasn't seeing things with the issues I'm having with creators, and voila, no issues at all with live tiles "installed on spare drive of course"

I just recently installed the Creators Update on 4 other PCs, and quite surprisingly, all live tiles are working with no issues on 15063.296.

The problems appear to be hit/miss, depending on the system configuration

    With W10 CU I have two equally annoying problems after a clean install. The following has a 70% chance of occurrence;

1.) some apps and tiles are greyed out. When clicking them a message appears and tells me to go to Store for more info. That does not work.

2.). Soon after I go online some tiles have the message "a great app is on the way" into eternity and nothing happens. When usually they work instantly, i.e the weather app, password manager and more.

Any ideas or solutions for these issues ?

My creators update since I went back to windows 8.1 and then upgraded back up to windows 10 is running great. The only issue I see not looking very deeply is the exclamation warning on the windows defender icon for having my brightness set to 100% which is idiotic since I'm not on a phone, I'm plugged in, and I can't shut the warning off (or access the health scan functioning) short of a restart until the next scan.

I think given all the security concerns lately anything affecting windows defender's proper function, and I don't see how one cold argue the above is proper, should be the first thing fixed. The last thing you want is people used to the defender icon with a warning or alert on it about a non issue encouraging people to not trust or be concerned with the warnings and to get used to it always in a warning state. It needs to communicate correctly and to be something to always take seriously.

    Danny,

I'm not sure if you found your own fix for the Weather tile not working, but I found a fix and the tile has been working for the last few days.

Open the app, and at the top of the screen, it will give you the option to pin your location to the start menu. Pin it, and remove the other tile that no longer works. This has worked for me.

    Thanks
haha! why would you want a weather application on your pc; I just look out of the window

I mostly look on my phone for looking up the weather, and lots of people use the weather app, but the point is, that we shouldn't have to deal with broken Live Tiles or broken features in the new version of Windows versus everything working in the previous build.

And yes, I also look out the window too, but that wasn't the point. There are many of us who are having issues with the Creators Update and are seeking answers.

Temperature, mostly. I walk my dog every morning around 7 AM. This time of year it can be rather cold 3c or so, or nice and warm around 12c or higher. Being under dressed or over dressed can spoil a nice walk in the woods.

I don't use the live tile functions at all and turn them all off. I find them annoying. I use my customized homepage on firefox (used to be ighome, now is protopage) to check weather and anything else I need.

On windows phone I use it (or count on the alerts on those tiles) on "phone", "email" and "messaging" and that's it.

Live tiles are useless for me. I run multiple monitors. There is no way to have the Start Screen stay visible. As soon as you change focus to another open window on another monitor it closes. And you can't use tablet mode with multiple monitors.

I use the live tiles, as it gives me notifications when I open the start menu. Plus I get notifications from the Action Center in some apps, like email and such. But having the weather app, having the live tile helps me know what the temps are without opening the app, and also I have the Facebook app and other apps that I use. I use most of them on my phone, but I expect the live tiles to work as intended. Everyone's use scenario is different, but this is my personal preference to use the live tiles

I took an inventory at my house last night, we have 3 computers running Windows 10. Of the 3, my sons computer is the ONLY one that has received the Creators Update thus far...AND....he just got the update yesterday on 5/15/2017.

Sure is a slow roll out. I have the ISO and know that I could just apply it, but I haven't bothered to do so yet. Was curious as to how long it might take.
