Don't want to start another thread, so I'll join the discussion here. I'm not sure if it's a bug or it is supposed to be like that, but double click on Windows Defender icon in system tray doesn't actually do anything, at least for me. In order to get to Windows Defender I have to right mouse click on the icon and choose "open". Kind of annoying and doesn't feel right.
    Hi there

Installed as a Virtual Machine for initial testing - running under VMWARE Workstation - HOST OS - Linux Centos 7

WD behavious the same for me as well need to right mouse click on Open and date is in US format with no way of changing it- not an issue with me .

Windows creator was an easy upgrade with the upgrade assistant

I switched off all the voice things - I'm not one for yelling at inanimate devices must be a nightmare in say an office with people yelling into Cortana etc !!!!! and disabled a lot of the privacy things easy upgrade - seamless. Skipped also the Ms sign in so still working as before with a Local account.

Note also Control panel not in main menu any more (right mouse click on Windows logo on bottom taskbar) - a lot of the options are in the main menu (accessed via right mouse click on the windows logo - not the "Standard menu with the tiles etc).

    Two issues though :

    1) When running as a VM it sometimes knocks out the HOST's Internet connection when first powering up the VM so I have to re-connect the HOST although the GUEST connection stays working. - I've probably given up on Windows Networking from EVER working 100% properly - but now it's sometimes breaking a HOST connection (Ethernet - not Wifi !!!).

    2) Long filenames STILL don't work -- not really a bug as it wasn't supported in Base Windows anyway - but IMO this NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP.

Otherwise no probs so I'll update a couple of Physical machines soon unless people point out some serious defects in the next few days.

    Cheers

    Hi there

    One more quirk

When running VMWARE workstation with the CU update as HOST you might need to reset the network adapter --rest to default and then it will all work again. I've had on TWO physical machines the VM's on them have network adapter as disconnected even though it's not. A quick set to default and re-boot the VM's fixes it.

    Cheers

Also couldn't install my HP 2400 scanner as it's no longer compatible. :s

Bastet, I feel your anger. MS is obviously hand in hand with third parties to persuade us to buy new when it ain't broke.

Some of you are talking a foreign language to me, whats a CU and CrU.

Some of the MS 'extras' can be downloaded, maybe Mail too ( is that part of MS Essentials? I just downloaded windows scanner because it was not included in the package.

I use CrU = Creators Update to distinguish from CU which (to me) is Cumulative Update but others use CU as shorthand for Creators Update. :)

Yes Mail is part of essentials, I use Mail & photo (for the screensaver which does not work without the photos) & Moviemaker, I have heard moviemaker will be available to download sometime from the store (there is a version but I don't think it;s the MS one).
I'm currently looking at Thunderbird to replace Live Mail.

I have installed the Creators Update yesterday on a spare SSD to test it, before starting using it as my Primary OS. I got the official MS ISO via the Media Creation Tool and used Rufus to create a bootable USB thumb drive.

After the installation I set up a 4-digit PIN to avoid typing my password.

Today I have altered (disabled) a few settings in the Group Policy Editor (Win 10 Pro). After rebooting I was asked to enter a longer than 4 digits PIN. The log-in screen said something like : "Your Organization (!) requires a stronger PIN from you!" or something like that. Right away I entered an 8-digit PIN, and I was able to log into my account. I am not using an MS account.

Then I went to Settings/Accounts -- Sign In options and removed the 8-digit PIN, in order to reset it.

After rebooting I cannot add a PIN any more. The Add button under PIN is grayed out.

I type this from my, currently, primary OS (Win 10 Pro v.14393.969), so I do not have a screenshot available.

Re my problem running Macrium Reflect (paid version) after the Creator's Upgrade.

Macrium Support had to reset my account, and it now registers and works.

This was the response from Macrium:

Your installation/PC count has been reset. Please retry your installation again

According to the fist link, its a 'trial version' ???? the third kink says download FREEWARE windows movie maker, which wont load up on mine.

I downloaded windows movie maker ages ago - Windows Movie Maker Free Download - For Windows 7/8/10/Xp/Vista
