A month ago or so ago I remember there was a link in the windows update area ( the same link that said creators update is coming soon) that you could click if you wanted in early to the update once it was available which I think was the launch date. I don't think it was insider, it was just a link to the update and I think there was a little warning. I clicked it and downloaded and installed the update on the first day of release. Then had some problems, reinstalled win 8.1, then upgraded to win 10 again and it included creators. It's been fine since other than silly windows defender alerts and no left click launch.

Double-clicking the Defender icon opens the Windows Defender Security Center on my W10 Home installation (Insider build 16193).
So we will have the fix in the next major update in September it looks like

Hi. Every one of the 50 PCs I support of all ages has been offered the Creators update once the existing version is fully updated in 'Update & Security' just look for the message, go to the link and download it. As far as I can see it is being offered to everyone and not being phased.
Yes I could click the link and get it. But my sons didn't require me to click anything, it simply came through when it did standard updates.

I could click on the optional link but my 3 year old Dell laptop running Home has not been offered the automatic CU yet.

Upgrades are rolled out over a period of up to 3 months or more- MS prioritises what they call 'low risk' PCs, and then extends that. Same last time.

Yes, it does seem they collect feedback.. (Feedback app). [Who knows- maybe someone even monitors this forum and others??(!)] Despite the courageous Insiders, consumers now remain their final testbed.

Further, they have to distribute the load on their servers and the www.

Naturally, you're free to do the upgrade from a single downloaded iso - and that's a good way-
    1. you keep the iso/DVD/bootable disk - for repairs, as a bootable tool
    2. you download it once and apply it to several PCs

But- act defensively. Create a disk image or update your disk image before upgrading.
Indeed, manually applying the upgrade, rather than having it start at an arbitrary time, gives you that control.

Looks like some/all Windows defender issues have been fixed after update: kb4020102.

I can open windows defender with double left click now as well as with right click on the icon in notification area and health scans no longer find battery issue and no longer gives warning on win defender icon on notification area/taskbar.

my understanding is it is being rolled out to newer computers first because of compatibility concerns.
I loaded it on all my computers but since restored 1607 on 3 because of show stopper issues.
My HP laptop no longer allowed use of the fingerprint sensor in hello
my desktop was seeing a phantom homegroup
wife's desktop was also seeing a phantom homegroup.
My XPS13 laptop is now the only one that still has it.

I recommend an upgrade install at this point so you can easily retreat.

It is being released in waves with no particular pattern. It is rather stable but has features that I will never use.

I may be confoosing here. This is an UPDATE to the CREATOR already on board, am I right?? This will be the message that I had then, and not the original creator. If so, hopefully fixing all that was wrong?

My install was the original release of Creator.
I have not reinstalled it yet to find out these issues have been resolved.
I have not rcvd any feedback to indicate they are.
