Thanks for the helpful posts on the .reg files and the font update tool!

I'm probably preaching to the choir, but Microsoft seems to have totally lost its cultural memory as to some of the original goals and motivations for Windows when it was first developed.

Consistency of interactions (buttons, menus, etc.) with user control of cosmetics was central to the original releases of Windows and of OS/2.

Now Microsoft is driving hard back to the famous Model T business plan - any color you want as long as it's black.
I'm not sure I follow your logic with these statements.

Before the options were ripped out of Windows I used border widths (better than 1 pixel borders) and different colors for active and inactive windows (distinctly different, not subtly shaded).
I pretty much go with the default borders . . . if I even notice borders or the lack thereof. The border around this post is just fine for me. Is it created by TF or by MS? Who knows or cares. Not I.

I've never used a white background; always "money green", one of the original 16 window colors. I remember setting up a non-white background for some of our older employees back in the early 90s (they were happy to get rid of the glaring white) - now I'm one of the older employees and I still don't like white backgrounds.
Ummm, maybe you haven't delved into Windows 10 very far. Just click on the Start Button>the little gear (Settings)>Personalization>Background. Now click the down arrow on Background and choose Picture, Slide Show or Solid Color. When you click on Solid Color, you get a choice between 24 colors. I think I even see your "money green" one.

Then came themes, but an ordinary user (or non-Windows developer) couldn't create them. Now almost no choices left.
I've been creating Themes using original photography, graphics and fractals uploaded by Ten Forums membership for quite some time. I've even created themes using my own photography, which is not quite as good as the real graphics gurus here. When I create a theme using the work gathered from TF, I generally upload it for everyone to use.

Oh, and just ask anyone here, and they'll tell you I'm not a graphics or themes guru by any stretch of the imagination. They'll also tell you it doesn't take a guru or developer to create Windows 10 Themes.

Really unacceptable, but that's what you get with a monopoly.
Hmmmm, there are any number of Linux versions, there's Apple's OSX, and then we have Windows. Looks like Windows is one third of the equasion, so I really don't see a monopoly . . . or maybe there is one. Sometimes I don't see the elephant in the room; I see the little guy taking advantage of what the elephant has provided.

Can the change of text size and other element be done by command line script?

Hello pc131, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If you like, you could use the command line to change the same registry entries in the .reg files of the tutorials at the link below.

The number of people I've had asking me this question - "Where has the font size option gone?!?" - is unreal.

Just think what's it's going to be like when they really start rolling the update out.

Don't care how good you thing Win 10 is - this is a dumb move by MS.

It's because most MS programmers are in their 20s having perfect eyesight!

Hello 133twannabe, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

You can still manually change all of those using the .reg files from the tutorials below except for "palette titles" in Windows 10 Creators Update. "Palette titles" are no longer available.

They work well in all my browsers, firefox, chrome, but for some reason it doesn't
change anything in edge, anyone know why?

you can change the zoom factor in Edge , (click on the 3 dots) but I am not sure you can change Font size perse like you can in FireFox or Chrome.
