    Shut down computer

    Hello,
Yesterday before going to bed, I went to shut-down the computer as always, it takes about 20-30 seconds. On screen had the usual notice something like 'shuting-down..', screen went black and I left the room.
Then before going to bed I checked again and see the light in the mouse is still alight and the computer still running but the screen was black. There was no mouse, clicked ctl+alt+del and nothing happened - screen still black. Pushed the reset button and after a minute or so Windows came back. There was not any error message.
Made a quick chk in device mgr, everything ok. Then I again shut-down the computer, this time it closed normaly after some seconds.
This is the first time (hope also the last) something like this happened.
What can be the reason of such behaveiour and what to chk.
Have some other question, but I'll post it to the proper place.
    Answers will be apppreciated.
    Thanks
    Motim

I had the same thing. It happened a couple of times before. I just click on shutdown again and then it closes like always.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the answer.
That was too easy, but as I said in my question: Display was dark, nothing on it, no mouse activity, no keyboard respond, moved the mouse here and there - nothing, several times pressed ctl+alt+del - nothing. Had to push the reset button, then windows started to load, when it finished to load I pressed the "power" and managed to shut-down the computer.
Hope it will not happen again.
    Thanks

Maybe it has something to do with the lcd cable. I had this problem on my old laptop. Picture wnet black and nothing helped but a hard reset. It had to be replaced.
