Unexpected error from Performance Redirection

Hi, you might try checking to see if you have any files which are seen as having too long a path.
Assuming you have identified which folder the message refers to there are some tools you can use to do that:

if there's some particular file which is causing the problem then there a few free tools you could use to track down the culprit or culprits.

Path Scan (on Softpedia) is easy to use and doesn't need installing. Just point it to the relevant path (i.e. your desktop folder), tell it what path length to search for, click the "Scan" button and it will generate a saveable list of any files that have a path longer than whatever value you told it.

The only drawback is that you can't perform any file operations (e.g. delete or rename) from within the program itself.

Long Filename Finder is similar but searches for long filenames as opposed to paths.

Lastly there's Path Scanner which is pretty much the same as Path Scan but isn't natively portable. (Scroll down the page the "Old Path Scanner", the one at the top of the page is commercial).

Possible workaround
In one such case, the user moved their data (in your case presumably one problematic folder) to a safe temporary location, relocated their Documents (it happened to be their Documents folder- in your case the Desktop). So once you have relocated your desktop, then try copying back the folder.
