    Start menu has shrank

    Start menu has shrank-2017-03-14_start_menu_issue.png
Hi all, I'm new here as a Systems Admin but I've been coming here for great information for quite a while. This is a new issue that I'm completely stumped by though. After doing some configuration on a freshly imaged Windows 10 Ent (1607) laptop, something happened, after joining to our domain, that shrank the start menu As you can see, everything is visually smaller, yet the cursor is still able to select in the normal location.

Additionally, I noticed that when clicking on the clock, there are no numbers associated with the calendar.

I tried sfc, and DISM to no avail. I don't time to troubleshoot this anymore, so I'm just reimaging the system again, but this is not the first time I've seen this. Any thoughts, or experiences with this?

Welcome to the forum. Normally you can drag the menu out or up to suit your needs can you not do that?

Thanks for the reply, but this isn't about clicking and dragging. The core functionality is there, but it looks like the image overlay has been resized.

Does this happen for all Domain accounts that log on to this PC?

If so, does it also happen if you create a local account (ie. one that doesn't have a profile for the Domain)?

Yes, all accounts local and domain. It was fine when setting up using the local admin account, then joined to the domain. Once I logged in with my account (domain admins group), the start menu freaked out and resized like this and I couldn't do anything more. Logging back in with the local admin account, the start menu had also changed to look like the above image.

This has happened on a different system before, but I've not been worried enough to really look into things. We're in the process of imaging all new computers with Win10, and currently have about 15 in our environment, and none of them have this issue.

Then I would suspect the display driver got updated to one with a bug in it. Is the problem PC a different make/model from all the others? Can you roll back the display driver? If that works, you can disable further driver updates.

Nope, same model (Dell Latitude E5570), same specs and same driver. I only use Dell signed drivers from the Dell Command Update application, and we don't do any Windows updates (handled by our KACE appliance for patching/inventory).
